ibm thinkpad video driver installing problem

By Tommy ·
hello again,

I recently reformatted my laptop so obviously i need all the drivers. the specific driver is:Video driver (ATI Mobility RADEON / FIREGL PCI Express-2)for XP. eveytime i try to install it .net 2.0 starts. after the installation of .net 2.0 it prompts me to restart my computer, so i do and everytime i try to install the video driver, .net 2.0 starts. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Where did you get .Net Framework 2 from ? ...

I wouldn't have expected it to have been present by the time you tried to install a video driver, straight after a fresh install of XP.

What order have you installed drivers in?

Immediately after the XP installer finishes and boots up, you should be installing your motherboard chipset drivers (which would include drivers for video).

You shouldn't install ANY updates until the basic, rudimentary, original chipset drivers have all been installed.

I believe this is the Video Driver you require

It would have been easier if you had of mentioned the model though.

Now as to what is happening here what have you done? As you are not using a IBM Recovery Disc I can understand that but where is the Dot Net coming from? If this is truly a new clean install there can not be the possibility of anything relating to the Dot Net Framework present on the computer. So what have you done here?

What you should do is install Windows from the Install CD then add any required Drivers for things like Video, Sound Modems and so on then and only then can you start to log onto the Windows or M$ Update Web Sites.
