IBM XIV versus Traditional SAN solutions

by dcolbertmatrixmso . Updated 17 years ago

Speaking of FUD on a revolutionary Linux based solution…

Does anyone have any actual experience with the IBM XIV storage array solution?

I’ve looked high and low, and I can’t find impartial, non-biased information anywhere on the blogsphere or really in trade magazines that gives a lot of helpful information that I feel I can trust. Whitepapers are few and far between. I get the feeling that a lot of the info written out there by impartial 3rd parties, and a lot of the comments that follow, are actually IBM and EMC having what amounts to a bloody corporate war via the Internet.

I’m looking for examples of real world application in traditional SAN storage solution scenarios, in particular running mid to relatively large MS-SQL DBs.

I’d really like to hear any DISAPPOINTED purchasers, if they actually exist. I hear they MUST – but I can’t seem to find any talking about it in public. If you’re too embarassed to speak in public, by all means leave me a note here and we’ll figure out somewhere else to talk about it in detail.
