Icon size in taskbar and system tray

By artzelda ·
How do I increase the size of the icons only in the taskbar and system tray without changing the resolution? I have tried going into the Display menu in control panel and it changes the icon size on the desktop but not those in the system tray or taskbar.

Didn't help here

by rich.techrepublic In reply to

I changed the active titlebar SIZE and FONT and FONT SIZE.

Having done that I now notice that the tray icons look like shucks, I don't know what they look like but its real bad! They are barely legible.

I tried all kinds of combinations of putting things back the way they were but I have no record of what that was!

Is there no DEFAULT setting? I tried using the canned appearance (before you go into the Advanced tab) but those didn't help either.

I don't know if this is what you want but there is an option in Start Menu, Customize where you can select to use the Large or Small Icons.

To get there right click on an unused section of the Task Bar, Select Proprieties, then Start Menu, Customize and then see if you have Use Large Icons Ticked.

Generally if you use the Display Proprieties that affects everything on the screen. I'm not sure of any other method of changing the actual Icon Sizes on the Task Bar or System Tray.

Use Personalization in Control Panel

by Homeimps In reply to Icon size in taskbar and ...

Go into Control Panel, choose Personalization, then Window Color and Appearance. Click on Advanced, then in the drop-down menu under "Item", choose Active Title Bar. There you can set the Size to your liking. This will also change the size of other items but I'm sure you'll find a format you like. Note: When you are in "Active Title Bar", if you want to change the font as well, do that first as doing it afterward will reset the "Size" also.
