ICS Manager Error

By WhyMEE ·
I recently have been plagued with a problem in trying to set up my home network. I am using Intel Wireless Anypoint II. I have worked with the upper echelon tech from Intel in trying to setup my network. After several attempts, we managed to accomplish the setup. I am using my desktop pc (ME) as the server and a Dell Inspiron 8100 Notebook as the client (WinXP) I have noticed from time to time I am prompted with an error message (Ics Mgr) when I shut down the server pc. I am using a cable modem (ATT Broadband) to connect to the internet. As I said earlier I had connection with both pc?s, however just today I wasn't able to access the client for either internet connection or network purposes. I have searched MS knowledge base for a possible remedy, with no luck. I would like to also mention that when I attempt to log on with the client, it somehow it disrupts my server internet connection, and the only way I am able to get the connection to the internet back is by disabling theInternet sharing on the server pc. The Intel tech advised me to contact MS if I experience any further error messages concerning Ics manager on shut down. Please advise.

Try creating a ICS startup disk from the Host computer and then use this disk in floppy to transfer setup to the client, this may solve the problem
Check the NIC configuration to make sure that NIC cards are not the problem

I would triple check Windows XP support for the wireless gateway. As of 12/1/01 there were NO models of wireless gateways that have inherent support in Windows XP. There were two models I am aware of that did at one time work because of a flaw in the Windows XP firewall, and since then MS has hotfixed the problem and caused failure. Double check your firewall settings if your manufacturer has published good XP drivers.
