is anyone successfully using an ID CARD printing system that records photos and information and allows holographics and dual side printing of pvc based id cards? We have used the Fargo system with very little success due to software problems and printer problems. Any suggestions from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

I work at a small university that utilized a full ID card system from Datacard. The front end is easy to use and learn and the backend is stored MS Access 2.0 tables, which allows easy access from a custom built 97 front end. The system is installed on a Windows 98 based computer with 128MB ram and a PII 400 MHz processor. I set up the entire system with ease (I had a few snags but their tech support and response time was excellent). Other members of our IT Dept. Designed the background image and I built the database. Our system successfully uses the mag strip encoder, barcode printing and double-sided print capabilities along with two printers simultaneously. I believe the hologram could easily be added with the right topcoat. Thatis the only thing we don't use. I also know that you can add in digital signatures. Contact Datacard at www.datacard.com for more information. I also think there is a Unix based system for multi-users. If you have any more questions my e-mail ismcclaib@pr.erau.edu.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
