IDE drives in new computers

by spsh27-real . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

The computers that I recently purchased from Dell no longer have IDE connectors on the motherboards – only SATA. I would like to add drives (CD and hard drives) from older computers to the new systems, but I don’t know the best way to do it. I see that there are adaptor cards for individual drives on the market, but that can get expensive for multiple drives. Can I use the a PCI IDE card with multiple IDE connectors? What are the problems with I will encounter with this setup? Windows Vista is on the computer. Does that matter?
