IDE Hard Drive

By alicia8366 ·
Everytime I turn on my computer It starts to beep, But nothing happens. Could I have placed the cables incorrectly? or does my hard drive need to be replaced all together.

Please respond

Since you didn't note the beep sequence, there's really no way to tell what is going on with your system. Refer to the following site:

Constant beeps at boot are usually from a video or RAM problem.

I often run into AGP cards that do not fully seat in the AGP slot of the motherboard.
If the card is even a few thousandths of an inch from being fully seated, you can get a BIOS video error.

If the beeps at boot sound more like a siren, that is the BIOS PC Health monitor.
Either your CPU fan is not spinning fast enough, or is not connected to the correct fan header on the motherboard.
