I ordered an ASUS video card for one of the engineers here who wants dual monitor support. When the box arrives, there’s a large photo of what I assume is ASUS’ depiction of the ultimate nerd’s fantasy.
She’s a svelte thing wearing warrior garb and she’s holding bow of some sort. She’s got a leather helmet adorned with feathers covering her forehead, but open on the top so that her long tresses can flow free. Of course, she has a leather quiver holding a few arrows and gauntlet gloves. Her top has a lot of leather trim, but chain spaghetti straps and an exposed midriff. We all know that in battle, it’s more important to look hot than to protect one’s upper body! She’s wearing big dangly earrings and plenty of make-up.
After de-chubbing when I first saw this, I was a little insulted that so stereotypical an image is used to titillate us geeks. Will the legacy of Xena never die?
