I have recently loaded I.E. 5 onto a laptop. All the settings seem to be correct and i have set my home page to be http://www.iafrica.com This is all fine, but i canot acess any other web pages. Whenever i type in a new url, it shows an error message saying that i dont have permission to enter that website. It happens with all websites except for the default one. Any clues??

Sounds like maybe Content Advisor has locked you out, or your Security is set too high. Try disabling Content Advisor first:

Do Start -> run, regedit. A window opens that looks like Windows Explorer. First do File->Export to back up your registry. Then go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings
Select the icon called Key in the right-hand pane and press delete. Close Regedit.

You can now start Internet Explorer and goto View, Internet Options…. Select the Content tab, and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don’t enter anything, just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor, since there’s no longer a password. You can enable it again later if you want.

If that doesn’t work, click on Tools, Options and check your Security tab for anything strange.

Greetings,

You may have some damaged Internet Explorer files. Reinstall Internet Explorer and select the potion to repair or replace damaged or missing files. You could then restore all the default settings.
