IE 6 Uninstall vs issue

Soulrider: I have been having a lot of problems with IE6 with respect to JavaScripts not working. Denied access to sites and web pages that require it. I have tried everything to fix this problem, but to no avail. Most sites cannot pick up what browser I am using and as a result deny access. Some say that it is any older version, but it is actually the latest. Will the removal via the removal tool and aubsequent reinstall fix this? Or, must I perform open heart sugery on the Windows Registry?
