IE 6 won't work on XP Pro

By ron_lebeck ·
Hey folks,

I've been installing new machines running XP Pro on our Win2K network. When I initially set up each machine IE 6 works okay, but afterwards I get "Page cannot be displayed". No matter what I do -- and I've tried everything Microsoft has on it -- it still will not work. I can ping any IP address okay, no firewall / security software. I've reset IP stack, did clean boot, checked DNS server and still can't connect. Help!

you can connect to IP addresses but you can not enter domain names?

If so... your winsock2.dll file might be dammaged.

Have you tried reinstalling the OS?

Hope this helps.

I had a very similar problem. I reinstalled the OS and it is working fine so far.

Chech out the settings of ICF (internet connection firewall & internet connection sharing)
turn it off or set it correctly one of the two. it is something i think that they need to address as it may be set to auomatic and not allowing to go out ot the internet have seen this a couple of times and until one gets it it si very frustrating
