    IE 6

    Locked

    by qpeabody ·

Is there a way to only install IE on to a system. I have a user who’s having problems viewing links sent in email as well as links w/ in web pages. She clicks on the link and the page comes up blank. So I thought I’d reinstall IE, but when I explore the CD, I don’t find an .exe or .msi file. Where should I look? What should I do?

Is this person running windows xp? If so, at the microsoft site lookup knowledge base article 318378. Because IE6 is a part of XP’s shell you cannot uninstall it. This article will give you the regedits to re install it. As far as reinstalling it, you will have to download it from microsoft, unless you already have a copy of it. I’ve had to do this dozens of times and it does work.

Actually she’s running 2000. How much of a difference is this going to make?

Windows 2k is different in that IE is not integrated in the OS,which gives you the flexibility to use IE5.5 OR IE6

Open the Control Panel, click on Add/Remove Programs icon, select IE,then click the Remove button in the popup window, select to repair IE.

If this does not work then download the utility IERadicator, and remove IE

Now go to Microsoft web site and download IE,to do a fresh install
