IE ads and pop ups

By dsiverson ·
Is there a free program for not allowing ads and pop ups to come up. Also - one of our doctors was doing a search and naturally ended up on a porn site. Now if his computer is sitting on the desktop(not in IE) all of a sudden a porn ad pops up. Ihave cleared the cache, history, temp files - can't stop it - any ideas.

This is spyware, go to lavasoft.com and dowload adaware. This will remove most spyware, also keep antivirus updated and install a firewall, Zonealarm from zonelabs.com. Do not accept all cookies, be selective. You can avoid most email viruses by installing and Netscape or Mozilla rather then IE as most viruses are targeted at IE. Offer a smaller target and make it hard to find.

Numerous Options

First, as to the porn dialer, it most likely lurks in the registry or system files.

Depending on your version of Windows, you can disable it by running msconfig from the run box.

Click on the startup tab, and you should be able to locate and disable the program.

Personally, I also recommend switching to Mozilla for your browser.

It has a built-in pop-up prevention option.
