How can I avoid visited websites from changing my default page in Internet Explorer? Is there any way to do so?

Thanks,

Jose.-

Try Ad-Aware. It's free.

Adaware is a must have for clean up but it doesn't stop a lot of browers hijacks.

I found IE SPYAD is a useful free tool that just adds some entries to the certificates list that blocks a lot of hijacks and there's also hijack this which works well. There is also CWShredder for removing a similar exploit, worth it to check if you have the exploit.

You will also want to use a trojan scanner to find any worms in your system that will restart the exploit after reboot.

Scan, Clean, Protect and you should be OK.

In order to prevent web sites from changing your home page, you need to install a utility such as "Start Page Guard".

These utilities warn you when anything attempts to change your home / start page.

I have also found Spybot-Search & Destroy very good at ridding a system of hijackers.
