IE does not save proxy settings

by nordeide . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

Hi,

I have a Win98 PC that once was connected through
a proxy server, and thus I had checked the “Use
Proxy Server” check box in the Connections -> LAN
Settings and typed in the proxy’s IP address and
port.

Recently, the PC’s owners gotan ADSL connection
to the Internet, so I removed the proxy server,
set up the PC accordingly and removed the Proxy
Settings in Internet Explorer 5.

Everything works fine, but every once in a while,
IE5 remembers its former proxy settings, and
checks the Proxy check box, and even re-inserts
the former proxy IP address and port!

This only happens on one particular PC in the
network.

How can this happen, and how do I get rid of this
weird behaviour?

Thanks and best regards,Rolf Nordeide.
