IE not running ASP scripts

By v-gathara ·
I am running IE 5 on Win 2K advanced server. I recently started coding ASP pages but find that IE will not run the code. All my ASP pages come up blank. Howerver htm pages are displayed fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Internet Service manager and IE. Still no show. What could be the problem?

Try some real simple code.
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE></HEAD><BODY>
<P>Today is
<%Response.Write(Date)%>
</BODY>
</HTM>
If this works, start adding more complex code incrementally.
Let me know.

Thanks, but I already tried this. It simply does not run any ASP code.

Sorry Tech Republic, but it is unclear how to add a comment.

I see no need to as it won't run even the simplest code like what you gave above. I suspect something to do with the settings of the IIS. Really baffling!

This is a very obvious thing, and I hope you don't take insult by it. When I started coding ASP, I pulled my hair out for a full day until I renamed my new pages with a .asp, instead of the .html normal extension.... sometimes it's the obvious stuffthat gets you!

It could be the "Client Scripting".
(It shouldn't be)
Try setting it to VBscript.
(If that's what you're using with your ASP-code.)
Otherwise...
try downloading the latest ADO from microsoft.com

Also...
Check the "Internet Information Services" in "Windows Components Wizard" and make sure you have these components installed:
"Common Files" (required)
"Internet Information Services Snap-In"
"World Wide Web Server"

The last one shouldn't be neccesary, but install it and se if there's any changes.
