See if you can find an answer here. Type the Q number in the search box at www.microsoft.com/technet

You may have checked this already...

Go to Tools (in IE), Options, Advanced tab, and under the Media section, make sure that the Show Pictures check box is checked.

I have seen this setting get lost when simply doing a Windows Update sometimes.
Hope this helps.

the red X can also mean that the graphic is broken, or the link to the graphic is invalid.

Link to the graphic being invalid can also mean if the image resides on another server that requires some form of authentication, be it even a simple Cookie File (as opposed to a full out popup window requesting user name and password or some such stonger authentication)

the Graphic being broken could mean the graphic itself, the method for *getting* the graphic (again more like a linking problem), the graphic handler of your computer... (Inet.Explorer)

If you have IE & Netscape availalbe.. try pulling up the same website with both browsers.. see if one displays the images and one not..

if one does & other doesn't, then you could have a browser issue that might be corrected by updating or moving to the newest verion of that browser..

Quite Simple. Just make sure you are connected to the Internet. The "X" graphic needs the data from the Internet.
Ensure the "Hang up when finished" is unticked"
