IE will not pull up with Windows 2000

By dapiek100 ·
We have a new Win2K machine connected to a network. IE 5 works fine going through our ISDN line. Away from the office on dial-up the pc connects and I can ping everything but no web pages appear. I have had several people look at it and all of the DNS settings are correct. Any Ideas?

Your default gateway is probably set to point to your ISDN router, and you IP address is the address for the LAN segment behind the ISDN router.

When you go away from the office, you are connecting some other way. Look at the connection definition, and make sure that you are either supplying a proper set of Gateway, DNS, and IP address for the environment you are in, or you have specified that all these are obtain automatically. If the latter, verify with your ISP that they can actually deliver the DNS numbers (as opposed to you having to hard-code them).

Open a command window and use ipconfig /all to check your settings (away from the office).

Good luck.
