    IE5-Enabling Multiple Sessions

    Locked

    by acbiii ·

I can’t remember where the switch is to have an additional browser open up when I open a second IE shortcut. I want to have 2 or 3 separate IE windows running at the same time; the system now opens them in the same window, and I must use the back-forward button to change between sessions. Thanks!

In Internet Explorer select Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Uncheck “Reuse windows when launching shortcuts” … this should fix it.

You can also make a desktop shortcut to IEXPLORE.EXE and include the URL after the file pathing to the web site you want. Make 2 desktop shortcuts like this, each one pointing to the different web sites, and they will both open in their own windows.
      Here is what I mean:
Make your first shortcut have the following in the Target box:
      “C:\Program Files\Plus!\Microsoft Internet\IEXPLORE.EXE” http://www.cnn.com

And then the other can look like this:
      “C:\Program Files\Plus!\Microsoft Internet\IEXPLORE.EXE” http://www.msnbc.com

Double-click each one, and the CNN one goes to CNN in its own window, while the MSNBC one goes to MSNBC in its own window.

      Hope that helps.
