    IE5 Not Viewing Intranet

    Locked

    by slink ·

I have gone around and around with this thing. I have one computer which will not access our intranet. We are using Proxy Server and our internet access is done through an ISDN line. She can access the internet fine but cannot access the intranetor any of it’s pages. Everyone else can access the intranet and internet fine. The connections are set the same as all others and there are no restrictions on that one user to prevent intranet access. Any suggestions?

Two things (maybe more) to check:
1.) make sure you are using TCP/IP for network communications.
2.) check your host file in the windows directory, make sure the “friendly name” URL is listed along with the intranet’s server location. You can useany existing entries there as an example of how to list your intranet’s address.

Under your proxy settings, select Advanced, and under your Exceptions, enter the url of your intranet site. This tells your browser to not go use the proxy server for your intranet site. This is common where I work.

Or you can check that bypass proxy for local addresses under tools, options, Lan settings.

You might wish to check the user’s network properties under tcp/ip. Make sure the user’s machine is set to the same domain as the others.
