Have WINME and AOL7 WITH CABLE. Started having problems accesing the Internet and suddenly IE6
was not listed in add/remove programs. Have IE6
on disc and when I went to re-install the wizard would suddenly stop with a message ” cannot continue IE6WZD”. Tried reinstalling WinME, hoping that IE(Some version!)would take, and also AOL7. No good. Any help short of reformatting will
    help. Thanks-

Refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base Q293907.
      http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;293907
      Remove any spaces.

      Please note in Step 2,

?For Windows 98 and Windows Me, renaming the Iemigrat.dll file and reinstalling Windows restores the version of Internet Explorer that was included with that version of Windows.?

You may want to try this default install, then once that version of IE is complete…access Windows Update and have the site select which updates you need…More than likely, IE6 Service Pack 1 will be selected.
It’s worth a shot, and shouldn’t take long at all…

To get started, Go to Start, then Run,copy/paste the following statement into the box and press OK.
(make sure that you select the entire statement, just in case this message word wraps)

      rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSectionDefaultInstall 132 C:\windows\inf\ie.inf

I’ve done this several times on systems that I support, it’s worked like a charm each time.

      Regards,
