IE6 no Mozilla Yes

By egn ·
My IE6.0 just started giving me "Page cannot be displayed" I have XP Pro, have scanned for virus, used AdAware, nothing found. I have Mozilla on the same machine and it works fine. Went through the Microsoft knowledge base and followed the uninstall reinstall procedure to no avail. Same thing still happens. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check that you aren't "offline" in IE's settings. Click on File and look down the menu. Is "Work Offline" checked? It should not be.

A couple of things that you haven't mentioned:

1. Do you need to use a proxy to get to the internet?

2. Are these internet pages or intranet pages that are not displaying?

3. How do you get to the internet?

4. Do you get this on some of the web pages or all of the web pages?

Greg I get this with all sites, I do not need to get a proxy. They are internet sites and I get on the internet through a cable modem connection.

Nikki offline was not checked but thank for the thought!

Are you using a firewall?

Did IE or one of the many Windows sub-applications get added to the blocked program list?
