IE6 only work after a refresh

When I am executing my Internet Explorer for the first time it always gives me an error message of page cannot be display but when I click on the refresh button our intranet web site is loading. I am observing IE6 when loading the our Loacal intranet site, the message on the lower left side of the IE environment is http:ip address not the domain name of our intranet site. Any idea why I am encountering this problem.
