Do you have an unauthorized version of Adobe Acrobat?

by leigh1234 In reply to IE7 Freezing on load

I had a beta program of Vista and once I purchased the upgrade, everything seemed to be fine. However, sometime later when Adobe Acrobat 7 was upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 8, the problem you're experiencing returned. I removed Adobe and no longer have the problem.

Start IE7 without add-ons

by JcBigDaddy In reply to IE7 Freezing on load

Had a similar problem tonight! Everytime I started IE7 the homepage would take 1-2 minutes to load, then the application would freeze. Had to open task manager to end the application. My fix was to start IE7 without add-ons then it loaded with no problem. Final step was to figure out which add-on was causing the problem. Opened Internet Options, clicked on the Programs Tab, then Manage Add-ons button and disabled each add-on. Opened IE7 normally and it started fine. Next I enabled each add-on one by one until I found the one causing the problem. In my case it was the Google Toolbar add-on causing the problem. Hope this helps! It worked for me.
