IE7 locks up after install

By mpd881 ·
I have been installing IE7 on my machines and had great luck until today. I installed it and rebooted. When I tried to load it, the program would open, but it would just sit there with 'connecting...' on the tab. I let it run for several minutes and nothing. Then it would let me exit the program without killing the process from task manager. When I uninstalled it back to IE6 it worked fine. I tried reinstalling IE7 and the same thing. So I uninstalled it and said the heck with this, but it now has my curiosity. Any idea what would be causing thing?

Did you ever find out why IE7 locks after install?

I just built a computer and loaded XP. I have the exact same problem when installing IE7.

Not sure if this will help

But I have noticed that occassionally a file doesn't get installed in the right place, nor registered. Usually this will result in a quick flash and the closing of IE7. Try this to see if it also applies to your case.
Copy ieproxy.dll from the Program Files\Internet Explorer folder to the Windows\System32 folder.

Then either open a cmd prompt or use the Start ? Run and type -

Regsvr32 ieproxy.dll
