IE7 works fine but i cannot get apps (games ) to work.

By aragore ·
IE7 works with no problems, but when I want to play a game to release my mine once in a while, mostly free mmo's and the like, I cannot get them to connect to the internet to get updates or allow me to even sign in. Any ideas how to fix this?

I've turned off all my firewalls, and antivirus programs and it still doesn't allow me access.

I get a "cannot connect to server," or " cannot display webpage" message on the games I play. I can't get connected with anything that is not a web browser type of game. Anything I have to download to play I cannot play because of this. Please help.

I think it has something to do with IE7 security blocking outside programs but I don't know what feature/tab it's under and it's been annoying me for the last month.

Oh one more thing, I've tried to do some downloading from Fileplanet and it's blocking me from DLing from there too.

Internet Security

First off access to these setting might be blocked by your network admin. But if this just "your PC" and you have access check the following.

In IE go to tools.

Find the security tab.

On the security Tab screen "Internet" should be highlighted and the slide bar below should be set to Medium-High. Thats the default security setting for IE.

If its not the easiest thing to do is click on the Default Level button.

If its already on Medium-High then its something else.

You are aware that you usualy have to click on the alert at the top of the IE screen when downloading off of the web, right?
