IE8 will not open

By roysimmons ·
I have XP Pro, SP3.
When I click on Explorer, a window opens and says "connecting", but there is no website that appears no matter how long I wait.
I've had to download Firefox to make it the default browser. Which I don't mind at all, but some of the links we get need IE.

You can remove IE8 through the Control Panel Add Remove Programs

by OH Smeg Moderator In reply to IE8 will not open

But you'll need to reinstall either IE6 or 7.

If you have just allowed the system to Auto update to IE8 and previously had IE7 installed this is a common issue. You first need to remove IE7 before adding IE8.

Even if you do not know How. No worry...
OPen control panel,
Go to add or remove program
On left panel click add or remove components
Check the box infront of IE
Go to finish
This is put back working IE on your desktop.
