ignore failed read

I had a linux backup which fail during tar process because some files are changed during tar process and hence exit and the backup fails
Now i want to ignore this fail and continue with backup can you please give me the idea on how i can make it,i have had a little about ignore fail read now i dont know how it works
i need your help plse

tar should continue to run even if there are
errors.... anyway, in stead of reinventing some
wheels, have you looked into amanda?

The is a full blown backup tool, including
recovery, tape management, handling tape changer
control if needed etc. all from a fairly simple
config file.

It can also make backup of remote systems and
use a staging approach to increase backup speed.

I hope this helps a bit.

I'll second Amanda as a pretty good tool.

Linux has about 8 trillion (give or take a few) back up tools.

I don't understand why tar is failing, but try Amanda or any one of the 12 bazillion other backup tools.
