IIS 5 Error creating Virtual Server

by tforce . Updated 24 years ago

Cannot create new virtual web in IIS 5. Two Event Log errors:

1) Error #3005f: Unable to read configuration for Microsoft Internet Information Server
2) Error reading IIS default Vroot info.

The only knowledgebase article on MS site relates to Application Protection settings on the Home Directory tab of the defallt server. This is already set correctly, and does not apply.

What happens…I cannot right-click on the server name or choose the Action button to create a new virtual server. The MMC stops responding. All other webs are okay. Running and functioning fine. Can right click on those virtual servers access the properties.

Have installed Win2K SP3 this week. Probably a culprit, but not sure.

I also reconfigured the FP 2002 Server Extensions on the default server, with no luck.

Any help greatly appreciate.
