IIS 5.0 and File Transfer

By nordeide ·
We have set up an IIS 5.0, and on the hosted
Web page, we have a link to an executable
file.

When a user enters the Web page and clicks
the link to the file, nothing happens. The
client reports "Host contacted, waiting for
reply", and eventually, the connection times
out. (The server is intended to be used as
a Citrix NFuse server.)

The EXE file is located in a Web-shared
folder.

What are we doing wrong?

Sounds like you didn't set executable permissions on the folder with the exe. Through Internt service manager go to the expand the website and then right click on the "web-shared" folder and set the permissions (there is read write and at the bottom there is executible permissions that you can set to none, scripting only, or scripting and executing) you need the third setting. Give it a try.

You have probaly not set the right security
settings. This can be done with the permissions-wizzard from IIS administrator console.
