    IIS/FrontPage, email a form

    Locked

    by jerilyn1 ·

I’m setting up a survey on an NT IIS server usong MS FrontPage 98. I want the user to be able to fill in the form and email to the recipient I choose. When I add the email address in the Form Properties I get the meaasage that ‘Server Extensions notconfigured to send E-mail’ I looked at the SERK but don’t understand the explanation. Can someone tell me in plain english how to config for this to work?

    Thanks
    Jeri

Frontpage server extensions must be configured to use a specific mail server. If you are hosting your own email you can configure it. If not and your ISP will not configure it, I found a free service on the internet several years ago that would doit. I do not remember the link though, sorry.

Take a look at this url. It might help.

You must have Frontpage Server Extensions for this to work. You can download it from Microsoft, or it should also be somewhere on the Office 2000 CD.
Once it’s installed, you can go to the Properties of your web (i.e. right click on Default Web Site, click Properties) and you will see a Server Extensions tab.
In the middle of the window, click the Settings button under the Options Heading.
Most of the options are self explanatory, but the two important ones are Contact (where the mail will be sent) and SMTP mail server (ip of your SMTP mail server)
You can configure these at the server level as well. (i.e. right click on the parent folder of Default Web Site, probably your IIS servername.)
      Hope this helps a bit.
