I am running IIS 5.1 on Windows XP Professional. In the IIS help documentation, it says that you can use IIS to publish pages to the web or to an intranet, and that up to 10 users can connect to the pages at a time (one of the limitations of the IIS version that comes with XP Pro).
My question is, since I have IIS set up so that I can view the pages by typing in the syntax http://servername.net (minus the www prefix), will up to 10 users browsing the web be able to view the page? Or is this an intranet-only feature? I have not registered with Network Solutions or anything like that and would prefer not to because of the complexity and fees involved. I think that the way I have it set up now works with the web, because again if I typethe syntax http://servername.net, the resulting page shows up in the “Internet” (and not “Intranet”) zone of IE. Is this really the case though?
