IIS, Reverse Proxy and Authentication

by mcsetyler . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

I have a NT 4.0 SP6a, Proxy 2SP1 machine with 2 NICs (one to internet, one to intranet). I have reverse proxy set up to publish to the web one of the servers behind our main server. (Main server – www.myco.com, second server – research.myco.com).

This configuration works fine as long as everything is set to Anonymous authentication (the iis start page comes up). However, if I change authentication to basic, and input my information, it will appear to authenticate and then sends back a blank page.

I am calling in from home when I get these blank pages, so I am NOT attempting to access research.myco.com from within the intranet.

When I make these attempts, in the Event Viewer, on the research computer, I get a DCOM error “Class not registered” from the computer when attempting to activate the server”.

If you have any ideas, I would appreciate any input. Thank you.
