IIS server event log errors

By stuart.truman ·
Hello all,

We have been having problems with our IIS server in that we are running a local intranet. We recently had a corruption of our matabase and Microsoft Knowledge (MS KB)Base recommended that we need to restore from an uncorrupted version but we had no backup, I know what your thinking but I'm going to pass the buck and say I wasn't working here then. Any whay because we had no backup MS KB recommended that we had to unistall Nt option pack and IE and reinstall it to create a fresh metabase. We did this and we have no got more errors in our event log then we originally had, including the original error ref the corrupted metabase!!!

The errors are as follows:

Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event I 7011
Description:
Timeout (120000 milliseconds) waiting for transaction response.

Event I 7000
Description:
The Site Server LDAP Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.Event I 7000
Description:
The Site Server Authentication Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

Event Source: DCOM
Event I 10005
Description:
DCOM goterror "The specified service does not exist as an installed service. " attempting to start the service BROKSVC with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{CD8F114E-C4AC-11D0-BBDA-00C04FB615E5}

Any suggestions will be great

Stuart

IIS server event log errors

Boy, this server is really messed up, isn't it!

Ok, I take it you saw Technet article 311517, which basically says to run SP3 to fix this Event ID 7011 problem. So, let's go with that.

As for the 7000 problem, I would open up Regedit and go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Look there for each service, and make sure they still exist. It sounds like these services have been deleted. If so, then you would get these errors.

As for Event ID 10005, this is related to the 7000 errors. One of the services that might be deleted is needed by DCOM to start, and since it did not start, DCOM is not starting, thereby generating this error.

So, check out the Registry, see what is missing. Check all services that are erroring out (with Event ID 7000) and make sure all components are there, like DependOnGroup, DependOnService, ImagePath, ObjectName, Start, Type, DisplayName, ErrorControl, etc.

hope this helps

Stuart i only see services that did not start? Can you unistall like last time and delete the specified services keys in the registry? (Im to lazy to look for it in Technet but it is easy to find) After that Reinstall and give me a sign.
