Im New Fellas

By jstreetz ·
Im intitally started my business from home and I was using windows xp home sp2. Business began to pick up so I bought windows xp pro sp2. then business really started to pick up and I had to move to a larger area, during the move I (well not me , one of my movers) lost some paperwork including the COA for my xp pro cd. The part that really stinks is that I didnt get a chance to install it on any on my pcs yet ( I have 11, 5 running and 6 about to be assembled. I only need xp pro on at least 3 of them actually..)and I dont want to have to pay another 200 dolars for another copy/ product key. I've been searching forums for days, weeks even......What should I or dare I say can I do? Please help...thanks in advance

The best thing to do is...

Telephone Microsoft , explain the situation to them and they will ask you to read the digits off the clear inside ring of your XP Pro installation disc.

This will get you a new working COA by return.

You do know you are required to have 11 different licenses for those 11 computers, right?

What you should have been told

by Tig2 In reply to REALLY?

Is that you need a volume license for multiple pcs. Check www.microsoft.com for their licensing policies.

I believe that they offer a package for Small and Home Based business.

You should also be able to get their Customer Service number from the site to get a replacement for your COA.

In this case, you will be best served by going to them for information. Like most professionals managing their business machines, you don't want to have the "Pirated Software" conversation.

Best of luck to you!
