The system should run Vista

But depending on if you go for one of the 32 Bit or 64 Bit versions you may have problems with the basic machine let alone things like printers scanners and any plug in cards that you may have.

Also depending on the make of the Video Card Aero may or may not work.

Personally f it was me I wouldn't even be considering Vista till at least 12 months have passed but if you wish to run the gauntlet and be on the Bleeding Edge with unknown problems that are unfix able I'll sell you a copy on January 30 without a second thought but don't expect too much in the way of support particularly if you want the 64 Bit version.

It's not just a matter of if your hardware supports the OS but what Programs will work on the OS as quite a few third party ones will not.

As for Office 2003 it runs on Vista without a problem which is a lot more than I can say for the complete Office 007 version as the supplied accounting package doesn't work with Vista. Well I'll put a condition on that it works on the 32 Bit version I haven't tried it with the 64 Bit version because I can not get a working computer to run the 64 Bit version that stable enough to run long enough to install Office 007 on and I don't have a printer that it will drive so I haven't worried overly much with it.

You may find that most of your games don't load or run correctly on the 32 Bit version as well and you may have to wait a few months till some Vista Compatible games start to emerge.

Depending on what you are doing with the computer another GIG of RAM wouldn't hurt and a 256 MEG or bigger Video Card wouldn't go astray either.

If you where one of my customers I would tell you that you need the Ultimate Version in 32 Bit form and to start to think about installing it about 12 to 18 months after it's released when the more serious bugs have been found and fixed and there is sufficient software available to run on it.

Currently Security is still an unknown and that's disturbing as it can really adversely affect you particularly if you do any On Line Banking as it's possible that your banking details could be stolen and you be bleed dry.

But if you really insist on having one of the first copies of Vista around jump right in and tell us all of your experiences with it starting with exactly what AV program you are using that doesn't come from M$ and how much of your existing software you can get to run on it and what hardware if any you needed to change.
