I’m running Vista and Myspace “crashes” my Netgear WGT624 v3

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1501. I upgraded the memory to 2GB and reinstalled everything. The laptop runs Vista Home Basic and has a Sempron 3500+ 1.8GHz. My Router is A Netgear WGT624 v3.

I have seen various forums out there discussing why Myspace “crashes” their router. I too have had the problem. Some forums discuss MTU settings and others have suggested unchecking IPv6.

I have a desktop that I connect with cat5 and have never had this issue. It’s a P4 3.0 with 1GB.

I began to look at settings from the bottom up; namely the device settings. I adjusted the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306. Granted I am no pro at tweaking device settings, I understood that this setting will hep me control the size of packets; more or less.

It helped a lot. Pages load 80%+ error free now. I am seeking to understand why this seems to reslve this issue, maybe just for me, with much more efficacy than I have read about.

All your thoughts are much appreciated….
