iMac not able to ping by Hostname or FQDN

    by mc3mcintyre ·

I’m having a problem with the Macs on our network. They are unable to ping hostnames or FQDN’s, but they are able to ping IP addresses. None of our Windows laptops are having this problem. All of our staff laptops (including Macs) are connected to the same WiFi network. Also, if I open a web browser, the Macs can browse the web just fine, no problems.

We have one internal DNS server: 192.168.10.1
DHCP is configured to give all clients the above IP as the primary DNS server and 8.8.8.8 as the secondary DNS server.

Can anyone help me figure out why I can’t connect to internal devices by hostname on these Macs?
