I have a computer (dell gen 3 xps) running xp home that has an interesting problem. sometimes, images will get lines through them and will disappear if you minimize and then maximize the window. here is a picture of the problem:

this isn’t only happening with word–it also happens on web pages and in other programs.
has anyone run into this problem before and knows what’s going on? i’m leaning towards a problem with the operating system and not hardware (fingers crossed). if anyone has any solutions or suggestions, let me know.
