Imaging Dos partitions

By culukn2 ·
As the IT Administrator of a company we have 3 machines that run DOS (don't know what version). I need to image these drives because the machines have had glitches before and it tooks hours to get them back up. What is a good way to image these drives without having to remove them from the current systems they are in? They have parallel ports available. What software/hardware would you suggest?

How big are the drives you want to image? Hardware will be dependent on that. If they're under 650 mb, you can image them using a portable CD-RW drive. (Of course, if you want to get duplicate hard drives and put them in a portable hard drive to do the image, then you'd have a complete hard drive ready to go when a failure occurs, without the most recent data.)

Software? Either Norton Ghost or PowerQuest's Drive Image are good programs and pretty easy to use.

Anyway, as an IT Admin you have to know your OS.
Just type 'ver' from DOS prompt.
