import address book into Outlook Express

By scharamut ·
I have exported my Outlook express address book into a csv file and placed it on a floppy disk. I try to import the address book onto client machines and the e-mail field isn't listed as an import field.
The fields that I exported are First name,Last name, Name, E-mail address.
When I open the file in Excel all the fields are there. Why doesn't e-mail show up as an option???
I read in earlier postings something about .pst file, but I can't export to anything other than csv or exchange. What is the solution to this?

import address book into Outlook Express

Please refer to the MSDN article "OLEXP: Import of Text File Ignores Last Field", which is located at:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q232/9/04.ASP

In addition to the solution suggested in the article, you might also include a field you do NOT want to export, i.e., if you wish to export First Name, Last Name, Name, and E-mail address, specify the fields to export as First Name, Last Name, Name, E-mail Address, and Notes (for example). Since the bug discussed in the article excludes the last field in the list, the exported fields will be First Name, Last Name, Name and E-mail Address...

This is admittedly a sloppy way to get around a confirmed bug, but you may find it preferable to mucking about in Excel.

(BTW, if the above URL does not work, locate and remove any spaces inserted by the TechRepublic system.)

Hope this helps...
