Imported Users

By jsnetman ·
I have imported 1500+ users from an NT domain to a windows 2000 domain (including user home directory and data). The problem is that the home directory of each user is pointing to the old domain. Is there a way using a batch command or script that I can bulk modify the users on the new domain to point to the right location i.e.

\\oldserver\userhomedirectory
\\newserver\userhomedirectory

search on the internet for WSH scripts. these will allow you to modify active directory settings and will do all 1500 in a few seconds.

You can do this in a BAT file also. The NET USER command, when run on a Domain Controller, can change the Home directory setting for user accounts.

The syntax is as follows:

NET USER USERNAME /HOMEDIR:\\NEWSERVER\USERHOMEDIR

So, write a BAT file like this:
NET USER USER1 /HOMEDIR:\\NEWSERVER\USER1HOMEDIR
NET USER USER2 /HOMEDIR:\\NEWSERVER\USER2HOMEDIR
NET USER USER3 /HOMEDIR:\\NEWSERVER\USER3HOMEDIR
NET USER USER4 /HOMEDIR:\\NEWSERVER\USER4HOMEDIR

etc.

All you need is a full list of your users and the new home folder pathing.

hope this helps
