importing >64k rows into excel 2000

By ironfist03 ·
is there a method or setting that would allow greater than 64k record rows to be imported or opened in excel?? my crystal reports can export to excel files quite handily to any version from 4. to xp .xls files however, i cannot open them in excel itself,, i've tried .csv and .txt versions of the data but no-go there either..

Sorry. Excel has a max limit of the 65000-ish records per Worksheet, but you can have multiple worksheets per XLS file.
So, maybe you can break up your reporting to different sheets within the same file. That would take care of the limitation.

If you're going to use the data for analysis, try attaching the data to a pivot table. You can't bring in more than 65,536 rows, but a pivot table works with pointers and only brings in pertinent material.
