Importing NT User into Active Directorty

By rheidema ·
I have an NT Domain that I am not migrating to 2000 at this time. However, I have a 2000 Server setup with exchange/AD/DNS. It is holding the GC for it's own domain while NT resides on a different domain.
What is the easiest way to import the NT users from the NT Domain into Active Directory/Exhange on the 2000 server?

Set up a trust relationship between the two domains. Create a global group on your NT PDC adding the domain users into it, and create a local group on your Win2000 box and import the global group into the local group.
Good luck!

there is no easy way .
if you want to migrate user accountfrom nt4 to win2k .you will need a tool called ADMT
the target win2k domain controler must be switched to native mode .
you will have to create a trust (nt4 trust win2k).
auditing must be enabled on both domains (account managment)
you will need to create a local group on the
nt4 pdc name "my domain$$$"
to keep the users personal folder (mail) settings you will need to export the
*.pst file from outlook
good luck

Easiest way is to use third party tools, we are using one from NetIQ that works especially well. If you can script, use cloneprinciple to migrate accounts, that way you'll get SID history on a user by user basis as well
