Importing old Outlook 2000 contacts into Outlook 2007 doesn't work

By claude ·
Hi,

I have loaded all my old Outlook 2000 contacts into my new Outlook 2007. But when I type a first or last name into a new email, the program doesn't recognize a thing. Says no such contact. Even when I type a brand-new name and email into contacts--same thing.

Is there a trick to this please? In Outlook 2000, anything in contacts would be automatically accessible when you create a new email.

Thanks,
C Teweles

You have to teach it.........

Typing names only brings up previously used email addresses. On a new program, you have to begin teaching it. For a while, you'll have to click the TO button to open up the contact list and select who you want to mail things to. After you've done it a couple of times, that "name" (which is the display name in the contact) will be recognized when you type a couple of characters to start it. Just remember, the DISPLAY name is what it's memorizing. Not necessarily the first/last name.
