Importing saved email from a CD ROM or other drive

By Geoff59 ·
I recently re-installed XP Pro on my C:\drive as I had MSN Visual C++ problems. I saved all my email to a CD ROM but find that now I cannot access it. How do I open these emails as the OE import feature will not import them because they are in a folder and I get the message "no messages can be found in this folder" yet it shows inbox.dbx, deleted items dbx etc..

The PST cannot be added from a cd drive, you must download it to your HDD before trying to use it. Also, you will need to reset the attributes from read only. Then you should be able to get your mails.

this wouldn't be because the file from the cd comes off marked read only, would it?
have you tried just barreling past the error? nothing is importing?

I seem to recall having to copy the folder with the DBX files to my hard drive in order to import them into OE.

You did copy ALL of the DBX files including folders.dbx ?
