Thanks to all of you who helped by answering my questions last week in regards to my poor dead motherboard and the different hard drive interfaces.
I’ve only ever added a hard drive, never swapped and I’ve never had to install a mobo before.
Since then my problem has been solved thanks to my daughter. She wanted a laptop and Walmart just happens to have one for $300. Yup $300! I was, of course, skeptical but I googled for problems and there didn’t seem to be anything drastic so I let her buy it for herself.
It’s an Acer Aspire 5251-1513. The processor is as fast as our current home desktops.
Now that she has the laptop she gave me her desktop [i](which is exactly like my dead one)[/i] into which I added my SATA hard drive and all is well again. 😀
