Incoming connection problem in win2000 p

by viplav76 . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

Dear Sir/Madam,
This is regarding a problem I am facing in the ‘incoming connections’ feature of windows2000 professional. Here is a problem description:-

2 machines-
1st, windows2000 professional, part of win2000 pro domain.
(static IP:192.168.10.7)
2nd, win98 laptop.(Server assigned IP)
laptop dialing into win2000 professional machine through the incoming connections feature.

I had successfully configured the conection & was using it for some time, however last week I needed to format my windows2000 professional machine & re-install the same.

I was using a windows98 machine to dial to the w2kpro machine.

After the reinstallation I am facing a unique problem,

The win2k machine answers the call in 3 rings (instead of the 2 prior to reinstallation).

In the meantime, my win98 client tries to verify the username & password while the server modem is still answering the call.
The authentication screen just does not appear on the win98 client.

The authentication fails as the connection is still not active when the username & password is being verified.
Please tell me of possible ways of solving this problem.

regards
Viplav Kambli
