inconsistent registry contests?

When attempting an ipconfig on windows nt4.0 server the error is ‘inconsistent registry contenes. If you reboot the server ipconfig works with the correct static ip addressing shown for the nt server (also dhcp server) but when a remote user is logged on using RAS the ipconfig shows two ip addresses. Eventually, the ipconfig command will state’ inconsistent registery contents’. Is there someone who can explain what the problem is? thanks!
