Increase datastore size to 75 GB is it possible?

By tia ·
I currently have a Small Buisness 2003 Server running SP1. I know that I need to upgrade to SP2 and need to know if it is possible to increase the datastore size for exchange to 75 GB after upgrading to SP2 or am I limited to 16/17 GB b/c of the type of OS I am running on my server?

Any help greatly appreciated b/c my datastore is inching its way to 16 GB and need to find some answers quickly.

I presume you're talking about the Exchange datastore size. Yes you can increase it in SBS the same way you do for the standalone exchange server product.

Just to clarify though, at a minimum, you need to apply only the exchange server component Service Pack 2 to your SBS.

Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 also bundles IMF v2, so if you have IMF v1 installed on your SP1, uninstall IMF before applying SP2.

Although you can indeed increase the datastore size to 75GB, it's not necessarily a good idea to go right up to the 75GB limit. I recommend being conservative on increasing the datastore limit.

rahouse has provided the link showing the registry edit.

I am still learning so I dont know what you meant by:

What is IMF and how can I tell if it is installed?

Also, do you know exactly what executable in the SP2 bundle I need to run (there are a lot of .exe files) or where I can get detailed instructions on exactly what I need to do to upgrade? I am just neverous to attempt this and want to have as much info as possible.

Thanks

IMF = Intelligent Message Filtering and is MS' answer to some built in anti-spam functionality. If you have IMF v1 installed, it shows up in Exchange System Manager, I think as a lineitem in or near your SMTP virtual server (Servers / <your server name> / Protocols / SMTP) and also shows up in add/remove programs.
